About Us
Amit & I met in 2001 at the University of Western Ontario during our first week at school. He is from Markham, while my family is from Sarnia. We ended up living a few apartments away from each other in our first year dorm. We were just friends during our first year at school, but spent a lot of time together. I had a tough first year away (my Dad left and a death close to me), but Amit was there for me through it all. When we went our separate ways for summer break, we both realized how much we missed each other and decided to make it official. We've been together ever since.

The Proposal
Amit & I both have teaching degrees, so in 2008-09 we decided to take our show on the road and taught at an international school in Turkey. We had a wonderful year and did lots of traveling as we both have the travel bug! Our final trip before returning home to Canada was our biggest. We spent 3 weeks in Italy and it was AMAZING! On our very last night we decided to splurge after 3 weeks of so-so hotels. We were staying in Italy's lake region (which really ended up being Switzerland....long story! LOL) and got a GORGEOUS 1 bedroom suite with a huge terrace right on Lake Lugano surrounded by the mountains. It was breathtaking!
We spent the day walking around the city and built up quite the appetite. It was getting late, I was starving, and the restaurant was going to close soon. While I was doing my hair and makeup, Amit was telling me how great I am and how lucky he is (not out of the ordinary, so I thought nothing of it). We were both ready and I was heading for the door when Amit took my hands and told me he loved me. Still not out of the ordinary, so I kissed him and turned to go for dinner again (seriously, I was hungry!) That's when Amit said "I'm REALLY trying to do something here." That's when I knew something was up. All of a sudden music was playing and Amit was leading me out to the terrace. There was a beautiful dinner for 2 set up with candles, flowers, wine, and champagne. I was so shocked, he had to ask me twice! I finally managed a "YES!"
